Micro and Small Enterprises in Odisha to adopt Internet to help revive their businesses
There are 1 lakh 10 thousand MSME units in Odisha, out of which only 500 to 600 units have been registered through District Industries Centres and invested 500 to 600 crore. About 20,000 of these are sick and around 10,000 are passing through incipient sickness.In this scenario, the Interactive Seminar "Internet for MSMEs", organized by Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) ,Young India, DISHA and supported by Verisign & Ministry of MSMEs at Bhubaneswar on May 31, 2011 was a timely initiative to help the MSMEs in understanding about the means they can employ to make themselves visible to and connect with customers globally in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Orissa's first digital Panchayat launched
Orissa's first digital Panchayat launched at Konark . It was launched by Young India & Digital Empowerment Foundation aims to host independent web-portal of all the 29 GPs of Gop Block , Puri Dist for promotion of ICT based governance system. Its first such type initiative in Odisha state. Its a joint initiative of Young India & DEF.

'Community Radio Awareness Workshop' organised at Konark
'Community Radio Awareness Workshop' organised at Konark from 22nd to 24th Dec 2010.Representatives from civil society organisation, University & Educational Institutes attended from several states i.e. Odisha, Bihar, MP,Chhatisgarh,Jharkhand etc. The focus of this workshop was on creating greater awareness regarding application process for community radio & different aspects on the potential of community radio as a tool for interactive development and through information dissemination.
Radio Namaskar is inaugurated......
Orissa has kicked off its first community radio station Radio Namaskar at Konark, the international tourist destination. The test run was started on 12th Feb 2010 & is inaugurated formally on 11th July. It will will provide a medium to give vent to the aspirations, concerns and communication needs of the local community that are otherwise overlooked by the mainstream media.
Brutal attack on RTI Activist; Culprit arrested
Today renowned RTI activist of the state Soochanashree Rabindra Nath Nayak is injured in brutal attack by a PDS dealer. Konark Police has lodged a case 36/2010 ,341,323,294,506 IPC & arrested the culprit.
RTI Impact; 3 ICDS Workers resigned
Three ICDS workers of Gop Block have resigned,when the reality came to light through RTI that they have used fake certificate during appointment process.
'Soochanashree 2009' presented to RTI activists
'Suchanashree’ is the State Level Award for the RTI crusaders of Orissa for recognizing effective RTI practices having sound development impact on lives of communities and citizens at grass root level. This year 3 RTI activists & 1 organisation have been falicitated.

Youth and supporters of young people in the State, developed this Youth declaration from a unified voice as a declaration of Youth Manifesto-2009. Young people make up over half the total population of the state. It is in harnessing the assets of creativity, energy and talent found in young people that will continue the social and economic development of the state.

Konark Youth Fest' 2008, a national level youth congregation has been organised at the international tourist destination KONARK from 21st to 25th December by Young India. More than 200 youth delegates from different parts of India & guest delegates from other countries like Holland,USA,Germany have attended this programme.........
