A ray of Women Empowerment...
Village Women organised PALLISABHA at Baharana Village....
7th,July,2008;
Today a ray of Women empowerment has been shown at Baharana Village of Gop Block of Puri District where only women organised Palli Sabha for their village.
Baharana is a remote village of Banakhandi GramPanchayat of Gop Block with lot of problems with Drinking Water ,School Education, Road facility etc. Since last long a proper Pallisabha was not organised in this village. So when the village women came to know regarding their role & responsibility in Panchayatiraj System especially in PalliSabha & GramSabha, unitedly they demanded for a special PalliSabha before Sarapancha & BDO,Gop Block. On this demand today a PalliSabha was done at Baharana village where only women of the village were present. These more than hundred women actively participated in different discussion with Sarapanch, GP Secretary & Concerned Ward Member of that Ward who was presiding the PalliSabha. A number of proposals proposed & the SHGs of this Village taken responsibility to execute the projects. Also the Sarapanch assured to take immidiate action for supply of drinking water to this village under JALADHARA Project as the villagers collect drinking water from a SAFEI NALA ,1.5 KM far from the village.The concerned Block development officer Mr. Srimanta Mishra has appreciated the action taken by village women first time in this area & has assured to visit that village verysoon.This noble & novel action has shown a new light in this area.
