Radio Namaskar is inaugurated......


Orissa has kicked off its first community radio station Radio Namaskar at Konark, the international tourist destination. The test run was started on 12th Feb 2010 & is inaugurated formally on 11th July. It will will provide a medium to give vent to the aspirations, concerns and communication needs of the local community that are otherwise overlooked by the mainstream media.

It will ensure overcoming social problem through a community owned process through deployment of oriented personnel and sensitizing the beneficiary mass & will enable the general public to have access to each others views and ideas directly through a network of communication and can be able to have direct and immediate access to ensure redressal of grievance as well as finalization of local based issues of state and national importance.

Now Radio Namaskar is focused on the strategic thrusts like Local Governance, Women Empowerment, Food Security & Youth Development along with the other societal need based areas. The programmes on the radio station, which went on air Friday, are majorly in local language and are aired at 90.4 Mhz in FM frequency.

Now its started with a team of local youth & rural women which aims to be operated by the local community, will promote the participation of local people & will promote communicable link among the proposed villages to develop an enabling environment for an “all time connection” among them that will ensure flow of information/benefits & access to all amenities and benefits for the targeted people.
