Konark Youth Fest' 2008, a national level youth congregation has been organised at the international tourist destination KONARK from 21st to 25th December by Young India. More than 200 youth delegates from different parts of India & guest delegates from other countries like Holland,USA,Germany have attended this programme.........
In view of the celebration of “KONARK YOUTH FEST’ 2008” from 21st to 25th Dec at Open Air Auditorium, Konark, the international place of tourist repute it was a high time to mobilize youth forces for the single identification of Indian youth in the a sense of oneness by transcedenting the narrow linguistic loyalties, pretty regionalism, barriers of religions for national building and for the generation of refined nationalism by ensuring the spirit of universal brother hood, unity and peace of the world through integration. Since International Year of Volunteers 2001 Young India, a nationally reputed youth organisation has been organizing this national level youth congregation entitled Konark Youth Fest’ at Konark, Orissa and this year the program was aimed for recognizing the youth population of India belong to one blood and to utilize it to fighting back the social evils, factionalism, bigotry, dogmatic social taboos & superstitions with sense of nationalism, scientific mind, up-holding our cultural heritage and enriched tradition through performing art of various part of the country. This camp was of radical nature to provide a unique platform for cultural interaction, creative cooperation and intellectual co-ordination by holding workshops, free discussion sessions, sand art exhibition and cultural programs on issue-based. Indian culture is the symbol of unity in diversity which have been sustained and nourished for ages having brought about fine blending of various art, communities and social back grounds which will be highly beneficial to boost nationalism, unity & integrity and refinement of youth mind for social transformation.
More than two hundreds youth from different states of the country including guest delegates from other countries like USA, Holland, Germany attended this youth festival and actively took part in different events.
Youth views of the National Youth Awardees, Indira Gandhi NSS Awardees, Youth Activists & Youth participants of different parts of the country was assessed and assimilated during the period to concentrate on various social problems and to bring out solution for the problems in view of the larger interest of mobilizing youth spirit for nation building through holding workshops, free discussion sessions.
During the period an event ‘Youth Symphony’ was organized in which the young delegates got unique scope for demonstrating the skill and efficiency in various field of creative Art and Culture. Young delegates had produced several Art, Poetry, Stories, Articles in this event which was presented in a common event.
Youth parliament was organized to assemble the idea of young delegates from their experience for youth development in the country.
Youth March was moved around the Konark town with message to promote societal peace.
Sand Art exhibition was held at Chandrabhaga sea beach with the motto of World Peace . In leadership of young sand artist Ranjan Ganguli all the delegates proved their artistic skill at the place. Thousands of tourists enjoyed the exhibition.
Various kinds of classical & folk dances/music of different parts of country was presented in each evening at Open Air Auditorium was witnessed by thousands of local people & tourist.
A signature campaign was done for fight against corruption & to use RTI. All the delegates & visitors have joined in this campaign through putting their signature.
All the delegates actively participated in different events of the festival & enjoyed. Even within the period the guest delegate Isa(Germany) & Kevin (USA) learned hindi & Oriya language. They both sang the oriya patriotic song “Ei desha ei maati” on the stage was most interesting one.
