'Community Radio Awareness Workshop' organised at Konark from 22nd to 24th Dec 2010.Representatives from civil society organisation, University & Educational Institutes attended from several states i.e. Odisha, Bihar, MP,Chhatisgarh,Jharkhand etc. The focus of this workshop was on creating greater awareness regarding application process for community radio & different aspects on the potential of community radio as a tool for interactive development and through information dissemination.

24th Dec 2010. 82 Representatives from civil society organisation,
University & Educational Institutes attended from several states i.e.
Odisha, Bihar, MP,Chhatisgarh,Jharkhand etc. Dr R Sreedher,Director-
CEMCA, Mr Inderjeet Grewal from Ministry of I & B,Mr R.K.
Suman,Director, Home Ministry, Mr V.N. Balan from Ministry of
Telecommunication& IT,Mr Sajan Venniyoor, General Secretary, Community
Radio Forum of India, Veteran Community Broadcaster Vipin Sharma, Amit
Chakraborty , Mr N.A.Shah Ansari, Chairperson, Radio Namaskar & others
were present. This workshop was organised by Ministry of Information &
Broadcasting, CEMCA-New Delhi & Radio Namaskar, the only community
radio of Odisha.
The focus of this workshop was on creating greater awareness regarding
application process for community radio & different aspects on the
potential of community radio as a tool for interactive development and
through information dissemination. The Community Radio Policy of the
Government of India had recently expanded to include a wide section of
organizations and accordingly educational institutions, NGOs and
Krishi Vigyan Kendras based in Odisha, Bihar,Chhatisgarh,Jharkhand and
West Bengal were taken up as the target institutions for this
workshop.
